Kingston, on the shore of Appletree Cove, is a 30-minute ferry ride from Edmonds for cars and walk-ons, or via passenger-only ferry, a 30 minute ride from Seattle. The Port of Kingston Marina has 40 guest slips and shower & laundry facilities. The marina is within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
Founded in 1853 by Benjamin Bannister the community was originally known as Apple Tree Cove, By 1880 it was a lumber town until the mill closed down in the early 20th century. Known as the "Little city by the sea", Kingston is the northern gateway to the Olympic Peninsula.
Now the social and economic center of the north end of the Peninsula, Kingston features its own community center, theater groups and shopping district. Stroll the tiny town and enjoy the waterfront ambiance, cozy cafes and quaint shops.
